Need help identifying this rock

Can someone help me identify this rock. It was found at Lady Queen Mine in Pala, California about 30 years ago. It almost looks like some sort of a fossil. maybe a foot??

Any help would be appreciated.

The rock? is 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. As you can see in the photos it has these strange black balls embedded in it. It also has a tiny tiny horn shell stuck in a crevice.

Could be just an old piece of "live rock" Rock from in the ocean that was porous and tiny sea creatures lived in it, could also have been a piece of ancient coral.
