Need help Identifying this find.found on old homestead!

Not sure what this is,it was found on an old homestead locationg here in CT....Its about 2" long,about 1" in diameter at the largest part,made of copper. Has a threaded end thats 3/4" diameter with 2 identical indentations on the "ball" end. I was thinking a walking cane top. Maybe one of you will recognize it. I hope so!
