Found this yesterday at a colonial property that I have dug many complete shoe buckle frames and pieces as well as flat buttons and coins as far back as 1749. This piece is made like a brass buckle frame with a very thick layer of fancy silver on the face. The piece is complete (not broken at ends). I am thinking this is buckle related however I see no indication of how it would attach to anything. I'm at a loss!
