Hi everyone, I'm a new member to this site, although I've read quite a few posts over the past few years doing research. I found this sash buckle on a site that supposedly had a temporary Confederate artillery position on it, and was later occupied by Union troops. I'm having a hard time identifying and narrowing down a time period. I've read silver plated sash buckles were popular in the 1840-50's and 1880's as well. Was unable to find the other half unfortunately :unhappysmiley:. Any help would be great!

Ordnance Corps if its American, but the French Artillery did use about the same emblem for their artillery (the use of the flaming bomb above crossed cannons)

Thanks for the input. The closest thing I could find to the insignia was from Napoleonic era, also some Washington Artillery looked sorta similar. The flag appears to have 13 stripes and 9 stars.
