Need help identifying salt glaze(?) jug found in civil war trench, please?

I'm a civil war relic guy, not a glass/pottery guy. I found this about 10" down in an 1862 yankee trench. I put it back together best I could, but this is all I could find. Were these egg shaped jugs generic, or were they used for something specific? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The shape is called ovoid , they were standard from the 1700s to 1850. then they became more strait sided . yours looks like a nc piece from the late 1850s or early 60s.
