Need help identifying possible indian artifact?

A friend gave me this a few years ago. It was found at a construction site around the Austin, Texas area. It appears to look hand made with finger grooves and fingernail impressions. I am unsure if it is an actual artifact or just a petrified poo, lol. We call it the "gold member".

Any help in trying to identify this object would be appreciated se we may end our speculations. We think it could be a pestal to a mortar and pestal set, or some sort of fire starter?

I have NO idea about the artifact, or even if it is one, but the folks over in the Indian Artifacts area of treasurenet might know right away!

My buddy has a whole tin full of petrified sabertooth poop... and although it's petrified - it looks exactly like poop. I don't think yours is poop unless there was a heathy diet of grains and greens. LOL
