Hi! My great grandfather passed me down a ton of minerals before he died. I chose a few out of the bunch in hopes of identifying them. Any information on which ones are rare would be much appreciated! Picture 1 is azurite, the blue, and malachite, the green on its host rock. Copper minerals. Same for picture 16. There may be some low grade turquois as well in picture 1.
Pictures 2,3,4 are red and butterscotch jasper with picture 2 being a higher grade of the material.
Pictures 5,6 and 14 are chalcedony. Picture 14 is chalcedony with iron mineral goethite or limonite minerals that may produce some fire agate.
Picture 7 is obsidian.
Pictures 8,9 and 10 are quartz crystal clusters. Picture 10 is most likely started as chalcedony then began crystal formation with a druzy quartz layer.
Picture 11 maybe vitrified volcanic ash. I'm saying this because the bulk of the materials appear to come from an area that had some volcanic activity and the layering especially towards the bottom where it becomes porous is typical of that material. Not a true sedimentary stone but interesting.
Pictures 12, 13, 14 appear to be malachite bordering on green turquoise as they appear to have good hardness.
The last picture is a geode.
Not a half bad collection. Reminds me of the stuff I collected around Arizona.

Wonder if we could get a close up of pictures 8 and 9. Very clean if it is calcite and the faceting is not a cubit as I'd expect for calcite.
