Need help identifying carved figures. Possible early Pueblo Indian?

We just purchased a set of really nice old bookends that are quite heavy (each one weighs approx 2lbs) so the wood probably was a hardwood? It looks like oak when it has aged about 50-70 years.
They appear to have been hand carved and we think it is a depiction of a man & a woman. They appear to be American Indian and we think it might be one of the Pueblo Tribes. We searched all over the internet last evening without finding a match for the design in the headband.

The wood has a fine split in the back of one that only goes a tiny bit in. They're each about 7.5" tall. They appear to have a mark on center of the base (last photo) that kind of resembles a stretched out "B".

If anyone has any suggestions or is able to possibly identify them-that would be fantastic!
