Found this metal detecting on beach in Nags Head, NC. My first thought was some sort of large spigot handle, but I suppose it could be some sort of wheel you turn to turn a cannon or something like that. I don't know a lot about shipwrecks, and not even positive it is from a ship, but I know their are a ton of wrecks here on the Outer Banks. Any help from you divers or anyone into old shipwrecks would be helpful. It is large, about the size of a mans open spread fingers hand. I placed an ordinary spigot handle to show size next to it. Thanks!

Don't let it dry out. Get it in some water. I would see if I couldn't do some electrolysis and see if you can get some details out of it. The iron oxide will drop off and you will have a better idea of whats underneath!
