I found what I think is a Chinese Coin today while metal detecting. I tried to search the internet and find out the date, type, and denomination of this coin but I didn't have any luck. Can anyone help me determine the date of the coin and the denomination? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Those coins area not dated any tighter than to the reign of the emperor.

Lately I have been researching Qing Dynasty coins. Doing so, there might be a way to ballpark when the coin was made (For example: Early part or later part of that Emperor's reign). This ID process would be done by looking at the casting and the Chinese character casting designs. When I have more info I want to start a Chinese Dynasty coin message thread showing examples of the differences. So Treasure Hunters can compare their Chinese coin finds to the images I will post. My hope is not only would the images ball park casting dates but also show rare coins as well.

Another great source to refer to is
https://primaltrek.com/chinesecoins.html#qing_dynasty_coins

I have id several coins now with that website, however, you just
have to figure what's "UP" on the coin, then go from there with the
illustrations and descriptions.
Always a great find, as it meant something personal, to the Chinese worker, who lost it...!

eyemust,
The proper alignment of 'up' always shows the 'boa' figure on the left.
I look for the image that appears to have a smokestack on the top; that's 'boa'.
