Gary,my husband buys and sells CW relics( swords, muskets, canteens, bullets, etc.) and sometimes get boxes of what some hunters might call junk like harmonica reeds, parts to old umbrellas, coins, pocket knives and watch parts.its hard to actually date the items as all CW so every now and then we get a total what sit.

The rings move freely on the bar but there is a pin of sorts that threads through them with a little hook on the end. Here is another pic or two.

You can see the tiny holes in the pic above and the detail on the front side of the bar in this one.

I'm going to take one of it in mid air to show how whatever it is might operate. As Arnold says" I'll be bock!"

It resembles a sort of puzzle/brainteaser of the type I've seen before. These usually have a specific position the parts have to be in to get them apart or separate parts.

It looks like a turn of the century bar pin/brooch. Look at #1 arrow, it is the catch for a pin; whereas #2 is the actual pin that would have gone through the clothing, and rested on the #1 area. The barbell looking piece has turned backwards, as the open holes would have been in the front of the pin. I've seen similar pins with charms hanging on them.

I had one similar, but it has been sold. I'll look back in my stored .jpgs to see if I can find a pic.

I've found a few modern 'charm dangle' pin/brooches:

Trooper this one had my brain teased as well,Breezie your guess sounds the most likely, especially since one side is ornate to a certain degree.
