Hello from FL. I found this button yesterday at a orange grove farm home site active in the 1940's.

I have 4 questions:
1) Any idea if this is a significant find...maybe military?
2) Any idea on the age?
3) What is with the long wire "loop" on the back?
4) Did Waterbury make solid gold button fronts or is this just a case of intact gold gilt?

Thanks for any information and HH. C9

The notation of "co's" dates from WWII or later (that's when the company changed its name from Company to Companies).
It is, I believe, from the side of a visor cap from a uniform, but not military as far as I know.
