need help found this at old barn,,the cork srew is made of wood..

Probably to auger grain out of a sack to test what the grain is like inside without having to open the sack and dump it out.

I would think that if you held it horizontally and inserted it in a tube at the bottom of a hopper it might have been for planting the grain.
Made from wood as not to cut or damage the seeds. corn or beans maybe? The handle would have fit into some mechanism. Just my guess.
