Hi folks.... My father had a very large coin collection when he passed in 2010. My buddy Frank (Huntsman53) came over from East TN. and we were looking at some of the coins. In this one bag were coins from around the world, tokens and some various old coins from the U.S. Frank had some books to look at but we couldn't find anything that matched the remaining busts on either side of this coin.

The coin weighs 172 grams or 0.60 oz. At least I think I had the scale set right if this helps. I'm not sure at all but I think it might be copper. But it could be tarnished silver also... I just don't know. The outside edge has vertical lines/marks around it with coin lying flat. And maybe (just maybe) it isn't that old but something happened to this more "modern" coin to deface it into this shape...? Maybe I could soak it in something for a awhile and this might help....???? So if anybody has an idea PLEASE let me know. Thanks... Brad

King George the III (English) -1790's early 1800's ( I'd guess) - Half Penny perhaps ? I like the patina - it's well worn and I don't think
soaking will reveal anything else .

Thanks guys.... Frank went to take a nap after traveling all night to my place when I took the pics and posted. When he got up 2 hrs. later up he said go Google "British cartwheel and see what shows up"... Bingo... I don't know if he was 100% right but the 2 busts appear to match. Thank you for helping.... Brad

It's an oldie, but I'm not sure about it being a cartwheel. The edge isn't right. You can see some reeding along the edge, which is indicative of a george III penny (most likely 1806-1807). Also, you can see the line under Brittania with what almost looks like remnants of a date. The date on the cartwheels is on a thick border encircling the outer aspect of the coin. The busts will look the same because they are both George III. It's a cool coin nonetheless! Just thought I'd share a bit of what I know about the Cartwheels :)

Thanks.... I STRAINED to see what looked like a date also. This morning while sitting at this computer I looked again. I saw "something". The light from the window was bouncing off the coin just right. I was looking through a large magnifying lens and saw an 80 directly aligned under the bust. I couldn't make it out yesterday but just now I did.

So you and Iron Patch are REAL CLOSE or right on. But the coin is rough to say the least. My dad found it many years ago with his old MD. I'm now looking up a zip lock bag full of old foreign coins and tokens. This was in the mix.

Have a great day folks..... Brad

Its as stated above, if the size is right. Not a cartwheel, but it can only be those 2 dates.

My guess is 1807 George III Penny, Fourth Issue, Soho Mint, Birmingham, England, issued under Prime Minister Lord Grenville during the Napoleonic Wars. This looks to have been a lucky pocket-piece.

Or it spent 200+ years in a tumbler....! Wish it was in better shape. But I see even if it was it's not really worth all that much. It's just neat to have though.
