Need help dating toy

Found the toy gunner and Helen Neushaefer lipstick holder in the backyard of an early 1900s house. Googled info on the lipstick, but there's nothing inscripted on the toy. From the type of corrosion, I'm guessing the metal is aluminum or zinc. Any ideas on the age?

Actually, I think that is a WW1 gunner-that is a water-cooled machine gun and he is wearing canvas leggings.

Just following WWII, one of the kid toys was a set of casts and blocks of lead to make your own lead soldiers.
