Need Help!!!(2 brass things found by old dairy barn)

I found these 2 brass things in old pasture where my wife's Grandma had a dairy barn years ago. They seem to be brass, and very heavy for their size. They got a slot in the side of them also. Thanks for the help to I.D. them
