Hi everyone, Did a good bit of hunting this weekend. The wife cut me loose so I took advantage of the time I had.

This one will be difficult to figure out due to the little detail left on the coin. I'll owe whoever figures this one out.

Well here goes. The coin is exactly the size of a quarter and also has a readed edge. It is nickle over copper for it's alloy. On the front of the coin It has a bust of a man's head facing to the right. His neck is cut at the bottom like a v-nickel is. He has hair close to his head as far as I can tell. To the left of him along the border of the coin it says William. Then after that it looks like the letter a.d but it has the hole drilled through it. Along the border of the right side to the right of the hole drilled says something but I'm not sure. It's adelaies but that is not certain. I doubt that is right but I do know the first three letters are ADE For sure.

When flipped to the back is when it gets even tougher for me to explain what I can see. It's very hard to see due to the age. To the right of the hole on the back around the border it says this One june 26 1830. There is writing along the left of the hole but I can't make it out. There is also writing in the middle but the only word I can make out is this. And it isn't right but it's what I can make out. It says chomard. I know that isn't what it is but when the letters are smeared they are almost impossible to make out.

I hope someone out there with coin knowledge can help me. Even if you can get me pointed in it's right origin would be alot more than I know about it now.

Thanks for the help.

Congrats on your find and the time to find it!!!!

Howdy-do...neat coin.? Do a rubbing then post a photo of that.? May/may not help but it certainly helped nail down a "Mickey Mouse" find in the Whatzit forum a couple of weeks ago.? Just a suggestion.

Good luck!? Batch

I re-Balanced your Pic.

Thanks everyone for helping with this coin. Sorry about my inbox. I had cleaned it out a few weeks ago but I guess it was still full with 24 messages. I deleted them all but 2 so now it says I have 80% space now. If you could resend me the link would be great. Or post in the topic with the link.

Thanks for all the help Jeremy

Thanks sparklystuff, I had found the same link also just as you were sending it to me. It is a 1831 coronation medal. I don't know the value but did see a few other varieties. That one on that site is the exact one. It says crowned sept 8 1831 on the back in the middle. It's one old coin and wish it was in better shape. They seam to be rare and valuable. But not in the condition this one is in. They seem low mintage to from what I have read.

Hope to find a thread on the value and mintage of the coin.

Thanks for all the help

HH Jeremy

OK good. Just that if it had only the 1830 date it's an ascension medallion. Either way, it's a great find!

Great find jer!!WTG!!
