I have this bayonet which was given to me as a child , I lost place of it over the years and searched high and low to find and finally after 10 years of looking I found it in a closet behind of bunch of things my wife placed infront of it. Anyway I would like to know the country it is from and also the year and some information on the markings on the blade which is the number 8 in a circle and also a diamond shaped marking with bars . I have researched and cannot find a match ,the only ones ive found the appear close to it are japan and china bayonets from the late 1800's and early 1900's , the blade is one sided and is exactly 15 1/2 inches in lenght .Thanks for any information to complete a ID on this item .

They are called type 30 for arisaka rifles.
the maker is Toyoda Jido Shokki Seisakusho, known in English as Toyoda Automatic Loom Manufacturing. WWII.

I use an M1 bayonet, lost the sheath while out detecting last week now have to wait for snow to melt to go find it, should have painted it orange instead of that OD green.

I use to carry my WWII Mauser bayonet with me, honed to a sharp edge. Not so much to dig as to make a showing when digging in seedy neighborhoods. Most of the potential thugs and muggers leave me alone. But I also carry my permitted S&W New Chief special in .45 ACP. But I have to carry it concealed so it's my emergency backup. So far just making the bayonet visible has been enough of a deterent. Monty
