Welcome to Tnet from Toronto hedgefundstar! :hello:
If you could show us a full size pic of the painting with the frame and of the reverse side.
Please include the measurements. I would also like to see a close up of the paint.

Your painting, if authentic is well executed.

Here is a link to a listing of Dutch Painters from the 15th - 20thc... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dutch_painters

Your painting is a copy of a work by the Dutch artist Johannes Frederik Hulk the Elder (1829–1911). Hulk’s original was oil-on-canvas (approx. 31 x 46 inches), painted c.1880 and titled “A Canal in Amsterdam”.

Although yours is signed (I can’t read the signature) this will be a commercial studio artist, churning out copies for ‘gallery’ sale as decorative art and to tourists. The stamp on the back indicating it’s “Hand Painted Authentic” (generally not a good sign, and especially not since it’s in English) means no more than it says and merely distinguishes it from a mass-produced print. Sometimes copies like this have a print as the base layer, which is then overpainted by the copyist to bring it to life. “Brant” may well be a commercial gallery supplier.

Since Dutch copyright law applies for 70 years after the artist’s death, it will have been painted sometime after 1981 and only has value as wall decoration rather than as a work of art. It looks very nicely done though.

There’s more about the original artist from Wiki here (and also a pic of his original at the bottom):

As Red-Coat says, it's a copy. And not a great one. The perspective is skewed on the building(s) on the right side of the painting. It looks like the building on the far right is leaning back. Here's the original. It's not leaning.

Probably a projector shining the image onto the canvas from a high angle so the painter can see and paint without his own shadow being in the way. But I agree with your assessment.
