I never heard of that Detector, However before I would
Buy one From EBay,

IF you can't find somone Expierenced to search,
Go to Wallmart & Buy their Top Model.

Turn the Discriminate all the way Down & Search.
It won't be deep if lost Recently.
You can always return the Wallmart detector after

I agree with waiting to buy one if it is just for this one find. Have you tried this: http://www.metaldetectivesusa.com/joomla/

You should have a look there. The top left of the page has a link to find metal detectives in your area. If there is one and you can get hooked up it will save you some cash and give a MD'er a warm fuzzy feeling to help out. Good luck which ever way you chose to go!

Be carefull with those Guys. They May charge You.
Most "Real" Detectorists will not Charge to
help out.

I echo what the others have said. Post your contact information in the suggested forums and see if someone with experience will come out and look for it with you. As a general rule, most MDers LOVE doing this kind of stuff - just for the bragging rights!

If you a set on looking for the ring yourself, the model you suggested will probably do the job. Most any detector will find gold on top of the ground. Allow me to suggest a Garret ACE 250 detector. They are popular and really good detectors for the money. It costs in the $250 range but, after you are finished with it, you can post it in the "For Sale" forum here and get most of your money back.

Good luck,

DCMatt

Thanks ! I live in Denmark. and I do'nt know if there are as many helpfull treasurehunters here.... I will try to search for them. Anyway, my wife is kind of interested in this treasure seeking idea, and this might be the at start of a new hobby - who knows ??

Absolutely Not.

Just stating a Fact. There are some people Everywhere Who will Charge to "come & look" ,
But if you Keep looking there is also some who will
do it Because they Enjoy.

& I know most of Our Members would do it just for Enjoyment & Accept
nothing but Karma ;)

I havn't Viewed the rules of that site yet.
But would Probably Sign up as long as there are no Fees,
or Contracts involved.

Jeff, I'm a member and listed in my tri-county area. There are no fees, however if someone offered to compensate me, I would consider it. I doubt I would accept it, the thrill of finding the item and returning it to a grateful owner would be payment enough.

Thanks for the Info Willie.

I agree on your Thoughts.

I do accept Payment in the form of Rewards or Whatever you wish to call it.
But only when they say they insist, after I say No. or if it's in the form
of a Non requested Check in the mail.
I prefer Referrals to sites I can search.

There was another site that Took peoples Money to send somone out
to search. That whole Idea left a Bad taste in my Mouth so to speak,
So I am very Carefull.

Let us know if you find the ring ,and if you end up picking up the hobby and which detector you get :)

good luck

Jeff, I hope I can get you to re-think that.

I frequently do work for builders who get contacts from their internet site.
They may send me over, I resolve the problem, customer signs the ticky,
and a week or two after submitting invoice to builder I get a check.

In construction we hire pipe & cable locating services to spraypaint on the blacktop!

It doesn't leave me with a bad feeling if you go paint Aunt Mary's dining room with a couple of your buddies just because she's a nice old gal and makes good cookies.

Ha! just call me Paladin... have gun, will travel. I wish!
It would be great to get paid for MDing.

Mr Mulder... At least you have a very good chance of finding that ring in the forest, whenever you get the opportunity to return it will be there waiting for you, undamaged.
If she'd been running around at the beach with those other Danish girls I've seen, that's another story!

Thank, for all your answers.

I've bought this used: http://treasurehunteronline.com/6.html
I have done tests with my own ring, and there seems to be a chance that I will find my wifes ring. In tha all metal mode, my ring shows up every time. :D
I'm a bit usure how to work with the disc/notch feature. I have to do more tests, i think.

Mr Mulder,

If the pictured machine will find your own ring (similar???) from a distance about the width of the coil while in All Metal mode, you have a very good chance of locating if in the area suspected.

Don't be concerned with Disc/Notch... don't use those functions.

Chances are, if in a forest area there should not be much other stuff anyway.
I'm hoping your ground doesn't have high mineral content!!!

Good luck finding that treasure! Your wife will be very pleased!
