I went into a bank and asked for halves. The teller tells me that 2 hours earlier a little old lady brought in $500.00 in halves that she said were in her storage locker for decades.
The teller said that she had to ask a bank employee to help bring them in.
High hopes at this time.
Told the teller I would take them all.
This is what I got.
(25) unopened MWR 1973D $20.00 shot gun rolls.
Every ender that I can see the date is 1973D.
I opened one roll and they are all 1973 D Uncirculated?
How good of a score is this?

1973-D halves aren't worth a heck of a lot even in mint condition. Would be difficult to get anything more than face for this lot.

Not worth the grading fee. If it makes you feel better, maybe run them past your local coin shop to see if you might get a small premium over face value, before dumping them.

No big errors that year, unfortunately.

You said she brought in $500 worth. What were the results of the other $250?

Never mind, I just noticed that they were $20 rolls.

That is weird that somebody would have saved that many 1973-D Kennedys! Unfortunately, they made a lot of them (83,171,400). I'd pull a few of the best ones for my kids and grandkids albums, save a roll for myself, and let the others go. Maybe a local coin dealer would be interested in some rolls for a slight premium? Might be worth asking.

look for cracks & greasers. just did a $25 UNC roll of GW dollars--- got 4 with cracks from different OBV & REV dies. all had edge lettering:BangHead::BangHead:

C'mon folks, surely we can offer better advice than "crack 'em open and hope for the best"....smh…..DO NOT OPEN THEM, you know what they are and yes, as common of a date as they are they will carry quite a premium as OBW (original bank wrapped) rolls.... as a HARD core OBW roll collector, you DO NOT see these....hardly ever.....the "uniqueness" of them being $20 rolls alone will command a premium....add onto that the allure to someone being the first one to touch these almost 50 year old rolls will make them sell for $35 each, minimum...…open them and enjoy looking at the (now face value) coins if you choose but my suggestion is to list them (ideally one by one) on that auction site as I would love to see you double your money.

HH all!

Greg
