Hi there, yes the 45 degree riffles will cause that vacuum to hold the dense gold while the rest of the waste is being ejected. Now the 90 degree will hold your gold along with more of the waste material. It will just result in more blacksand left in your pan outs and cleanups.:2barsgold: I hope that will answer your question.

Thank you so much for the answer. Its tough just browsing around on the internet to try and figure out which riffles/design work and why, especially for someone as new to it as me. I will make the adjustments and hope for the best! :)

I made my first sluice box from wood, screws, caulk and a black mat you get at home depot for under 12.00 bucks. It worked real well for me. It lasted for two years. It did great. Till I wore it out, lol. Then I bought a keene eng. Sluice and I still use it. It does great too. If you hav e any other questions, thow it my way, ill help if I can.

This is what I made, still have to bend those riffles... just put everything together to make sure it fits....

I would bend a few at different angles and see what how it changes it. Then bend them all to the best angle.

That's a good idea, Ill mess around with it a bit and see what happens... Will let you guys know how it works after Sunday... My boy and I are visiting our first claim and panning/sluicing together for the first time... I'm super excited. Hopefully we get some decent flakes, anything to invoke a smile!!!

best of luck to you and your boy, very cool get'n out there!

Remember that getting gold is fun, but the time you get out and with your kid is priceless. It's the most important part of prospecting as far as I'm concerned!!
