I found this on the Chesapeake Bay. Anybody idea where it might have come from?

Maybe it held a plank down on a wharf somewhere?

On second thought maybe it was used as a tie-out for a Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog? :tongue3::laughing7:

I'm not a nail expert, well except when I go get a manicure, but I think this page will give you some basic information about vintage nails. :) Breezie

The ones with square heads are old, maybe 1800s or 1700s, Maybe from a shipwreck? I find these and small silver like ones with markings on head: SI with pig/ship logo and "P". Some evidently used as coins when there were no coins available? HH Boris keep up the good work with veterans!20130222_112827.jpg

You Are always welcome, Is it possible that Thomas Tew and crew hid on my Island? HH Boris20130306_154937.jpgSearch at low tide and after a NorEaster all metal and no discrimination slowly. Can you see the Hogge/ship logo? I know Tew was at Bermuda, and they recovered a lost "Treasure ship" They weighed the "cannon" for many days. See Sommer Islands coins and History, interesting! circa 1695.
