I found these to pieces of what I think is a shoe buckle today.1825 cobble stone house.I'm pretty sure this could be where the starter house was located while the main house was being built. Open pontil glass and pottery every where Any help on I.D. or date would be greatly appreciated! Thank you,Happy Hunting:icon_thumright:

Fancy buckle! Or trying to appear fancy at least... I'm guessing it is silver? But no rhinestones.

I'm no expert but I'd date that to the last quarter of the 18th C. I think it is generally accepted that by 1820 no one was wearing shoe buckles anymore.

Thank you DC! I got some time tomorrow will see if I can find the missing piece:dontknow: When I saw a glimmer in the bottom of the hole , thought it might be Spanish silver....

sure it's a shoe buckle. Looks like a french twist/ hair bun buckle. You put it over the twisted hair and secure it with a loose long decorative pin. Just a woman's opinion.
