I live in Port St, Lucie, FL and am planning to do some salt water beach hunting. I need a GOOD water machine. I'm not a novice to metal detecting (I've used a whites 6000 di pro sl for years) but I haven't done any water detecting since the 90's (silver turtle, tesoro PI, whites surfmaster II). I can spend what a good detector is worth, so hit me with it. Most of my hunting will be done in the wet sand, but I'll get into chest deep water sometimes. Any help, insights or suggestions are appreciated. I like the whites stuff, but I'll go based on merit and not manufacturer.

I got a hot tip the otherday a minelab sov gt and a 15inch wot goes as deep as a pi with the bonus of discrimation

Minelab Excalibur 1000 is simply the best

I hunt in Florida and I use an Excalibur with an after market straight shaft. I my opinion it can't be beat.

Minelab Excal 1000. Great depth and ignores salt and black sand unlike PI's. Pricy, but will more than pay for itself quickly. The Sov. GT is the land version and can be waded with, but it is not waterproof.
