This is for shallow water adventure. Somewhere off the coast of Florida. Shallow water recovery. I will acquire Sub Contract to work. I have an option of 2 possible Contracts that are Legally Registered in the State of Florida.

I need a cool Captan that knows the sea. You take care of your ship and yank me of the sea if I need help(not likely but I need someone I can count on).

We will go off shore twice a day for a few hours each time. Then we split the booty (After the State of Florida gets their share,25%).

Requires Ocean experience and a Legally Registered Boat. Zero money is needed for this, just be able to take care of yourself when we are not at sea.
Email or PM if interested.

In winter water! Why not summer months? the seas off the coast of Florida get rough during the winter months (all three of them), and the visability is often at zero. It is the rare day in the winter that I take my boat out beyond the entrance of Port Canaveral during the winter. good luck...

wreckdiver1715: Which three months are the worst for boating? I need to get there before the winter sea begins then. What would be the last safe month to get out on a small boat? The visability issue is not a problem.

I have to justify the expenditure of resources and basically do a cost to benefit analysis each day before I pull away from the dock; this is especially true when I have investors involved in a particular project that are counting on me to produce the most return on investment at the least cost.
For example, my 33 foot salvage boat cost me about $800.00 to $1,000.00 a day to operate at today’s fuel cost, and includes the cost of routine maintenance. This does not include the cost of crew and provisions.
This time of year, the seas are calm and if I provision my boat with a crew and food, I can anchor off the coast for weeks at a time (lower cost by staying on site vs. spending money to head back to marina each day), the days are long and the underwater visibility is good (well, most of the time). However, during the winter months, the seas are heavy with 5-8 feet waves and strong winds most days. With this type of heavy surf conditions, I dare not to bring my boat into the shallows, as a sand bar less than 5 foot of water, may only be inches under water at the bottom of the wave. Not good for the boat! Additionally; the days are much shorter during the winter months, so even if you did venture out on the rare day that the seas became calm, you would be unwise to think that you could anchor out for any period of time.
The season for off shore treasure hunting is not date specific. It is based on the weather and conditions at sea. Typically we are talking about the season starting in April or May (not the case this year), more like June. Typically the season ends starting in September - October or November, as the weather changes back to the winter mode.

hi Eric,
the ground swells start growing in late sept., generally, and calming seems to start around June. that still doesn't mean you can work every day in the beginning or at the end.
we have a several vessels with excellent captains, but hard to envision working a project.
but, id like to here a proposal.

The basic idea is drop and set up recovery device in several locations, before the sea gets crazy. Then wait until after the water calms down (and after a few North Eastern winds) to recover devices and start recovery operation.

This would be operating legally under a sub contract of a lease holder. Is there a risk? Of course there is, it is treasure recovery. I think it will work. I am spending my own money on it and not asking for a dime from anyone.

Eric,
sounds interresting, when did you think of starting, conducive to weather, how many days per week, how shallow of water, close to the beach is not safe often.
are you aware most sites can have more than one subcontractor.

riobravo: Yes I know there are multiple subcontractors out there. I am still in planning and research stage as far as this project goes.

The idea is to get the devices set up before the strong winds and crazy weather. Recovery time would start first day of calm seas.

The time factor depends on how many collection devices are set up and how many survive the Winter weather. Yes, it is a crap shoot. But it is a bet I am willing to take.

It is kind of sad. To do this legally I need a boat. Yes it is close to shore(25 to 75 feet from beach) but we are talking a limited time frame to drop each device. To set it up the device the boat can be out further.

Recovery will require being close to the devices also. I do not need a huge boat.

wreckdiver1715:

Okay based on what you are telling me it is making me think that it might just be easier to find a local boat close to the area.

Pay a local who has a boat that is a little smaller than yours. I would hire a boat Pay him $800 dollars a day to transport the divices to the area.

I would then set up the divices and wait till the calm season to recover.

That wold give me time to find the right Captan and boat for the recovery operation.

Does that sound like a good plan?

ericwt

Basically yes! However, I would be interested to hear more about these devices that you want to drop off that you are referring too.

wreckdiver1715: I cannot really discuss the divice at this time in detail. First of all it needs to be tested. I am Unfortunately not in Florida at this time.

I am stuck here on land until my ex wife's lawyer serves be the finall divorce papers and I can sell the house here. Stranded on land..that is life for you.

My post was to start dialog with other divers and Captans.

I know it takes a while to get to know other people and to feel comfortable with them.

The device will be dropped off unassembled in many pieces. I will assemble it underwater. The assembly will likely take several days underwater but I would not need a boat around to assemble it.

If my divice works, I will be able to use it effectively for about two seasons before other people figure out what is going on at start using there own devices. When that happens I will release the divice to the public domain for anyone to use.

Regardless, the dialog that I have received here has been very valuable. The captan that I choose for recovery will learn about the device rather quickly.

But until I can test the prototype in the Ocean off of Florida, it might be foolish to discuss here.

However I am willing to dialog with others and people who help answer my questions about underwater conditions in the Ocean off of Florida will be updated on my progress.

It is my hope that if the device works effectively, that I will have no problem finding a Captin and a boat. Results will attract the people I need.

My device will be tested before the next diving season begins(Next May or June). Even if it requires a little danger to pull it off.

Are you looking for a boat with a diver compressor so you can do multiple dives?

If you don't get anyone this season (you probably will), I'll be down there next season and available. I'm a USCG licensed captain with 100 ton Master's License. I also have a 45' vessel. What depths are we talking?

If we anchored in deeper water very close to the actual site, and then transported you and the equipment to the very shallow water by a smaller inflatable, would that work? I can anchor the inflatable over your site and fly the diver down flag as well as stay up on the surface watching for boats and assisting in general.

I'd be happy to help out if you don't end up getting this done before this winter. I'll be there next season.

The multiple PM and emails I have helped me get a clearer idea of what I need in a Captan.

I will not discuss the device or its methods on a public forum. The Divice was designed by me, with my blood, sweat and tears and yes years of research. Also the funding for my device was me. My money went into this device and it was me that was the one who built it.

I am Moving to The Treasure Coast area within the next few months.

This is a higher risk adventure. It is open to all that meet the qualifications.

The prototype of my device is Set for November or December. Yes winter sea is a bit&*, it is rough with higher waves. But even in the rough seas there are days when everything is perfect and the sea is calm.

It would take one afternoon to scan the area so I could determine the right position for the device.

The first run I need Someone who is willing to take me and the device For a general scan of the Area that we will be consentrating on. I will determine where to drop the device, Then me and the unassembled device will walk your plank. The minute I hit the water and give you the okay you can leave. I will set up device, activate it and then get the heck out of there myself.

We then wait 4 months and return to the area, We pray that the device survives and is not totally destroyed or missing.

Recovery time at sea will be about 1-6 days.

If we recover anything we have to document everything and turn it over to the King- I mean State of Florida. They take what they want and send us on our way. We split 50% of what the state and the leaseholder does not take.

Crap shoot. You bet it is. Do I guarantee it? Nope. There is know way I can tell if the device is going to survive the violent sea, storms and currents.

The only leagal way I can drop a divice and then later recover is on leased water in areas under a sub contract. This requires a boat and a Captan. I cannot legally set this up from the beach. I would be so easy. But the "Man" requires a boat with a Sub Contractor numbers painted on to of the boat(we will have it printed on a banner). It also requires that GPS that transmits a signal via radio. I can figure that out when I choose the area.

If the test works, then I need more captans.

In the mean time time I for the next few months I am waiting stuck here waiting for my ex wife's lawyer to get me some paper work and I have a house to sell.

Would love to be there in Florida in December. Faster if I could pull it off.
