Hello All,
Thank you for viewing this thread. I do not have the Dean Thomas bullet book and wondered if someone could ID this one for me. Got it at an estate sale for $8. Kind of a cheesy way to get it, but figured it may take years to find one like this around here. Has a seam mark and no concavity in base and was dropped. IMAG1113.jpg Thanks,

Height = 7/8 inch
Width = 1/2 inch
weight = 22 grams
Base not concave

I think it may be a sharps carbine but "TheCannonballGuy" would be the one to positively ID your bullet. Try posting it in the "What Is It" forum as he is there a lot.

Many thanks.

To make a positive ID you will need to give precise measurements of diameter, length and weight. Also pictures of the base would be helpful.

Look's like a 52 cal Sharps Carbine To me but the bottom ring IMO should be raised not shallow ??? 44 cal Sharps maybe?

Most likely the larger type, but if your dia, measurement is at or around .486 ...that's what the 44 's listed in the HB,OF,CW, B&C.
You will see what I mean when u get yr book.

I got lucky a few years back & dug a number of the .52 Cal's all but 1 or 2 had a small cone base.

Also kinda look's like a 'Richmond ' Sharps but the area under the bottom ring would be longer, could be a variant or Cut off bottom .

How tall is it?

That seller has A-LOT of nice Bullets but IMO The prices are a bit on the high side.

Bad for buyers but Good for me.

Go prices Go UP. UP UP . LOL
I pay no attention to the price. I neither buy or sell but find these sites a great visual aid to help id bullets. This site has some you don't see often.

I could not find one online like it. You are so right about the web site.

It measures 7/8 inches tall. Here is a base photo which is displayed on a bottle cork.IMAG1154.jpg It is flat, but i can faintly see a circular impression. The patina covers the impression. Thanks for looking at it.

It looks like a sharps. Yeah I use that web site also I have a lot of weird bullets. If you want me to move this to the what is it forum shoot me a pm and it will get a lot more people working on it. Make sure you have dial height weight and they will get you a positive I.D. The guys here in the CW section are pretty dang good too!

Thanks Tn.

Looks like the bullet is a 54 caliber Sharps Joselyn. Found it in the Dean Thomas book #95A. Have misplaced my calipers, but anyway. Thanks to all for the help.
