I am pretty sure that this is a neckstock buckle but I have never seen one with designs such as these. To me the designs look almost primitive. I started wondering if perhaps this buckle made it's way into the hands of a native Mi'Kmaq tribe where it was altered and embellished. Anyone ever see this type of design before? It was found in Nova Scotia by a friend of mine. Thanks for looking.

I have seen several items posted resembling this and I think everyone decided it was off a pair of suspenders? Monty

I'm ASSUMING the First Peoples of Canada liked to personalize their valued items just like the Native Americans of the USA did. I don't know what the design represents, but it could very well be some type of legend that was emblazed on the buckle, or maybe a favorite totem. It's a cool find, that's for sure!
