Neat Finds Today

Got out for about an hour this afternoon after work. It's a yard here in town. The house was built in the 1890s. It pays to dig nickels. Got 2 1906 IHs a buffalo with no date and POW! Nice 1925 high school ring. It says 14k. I'm guessing the ring is 14k and the cap is plated?

Thanks. I didn't know what it was till I got home. First gold class ring. Lol, I saw yellow and it went straight into my pocket, even though I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong.

I'm confident that the ring is solid 14k top to bottom - it is not unheard of in 58% gold to get some surface oxidation discoloration due to the
relatively high percentage of copper in the alloy . Great find !

I've heard good things about super sonic jewelry cleaners. I've never found any gold that needed cleaning.

I always used a gel toothpaste and soft toothbrush on my class ring and other gold jewelry.

Take it to a jeweler, they will probably clean it for you for no charge. They will also enjoy seeing it I bet. That is a great ring find, an old gold ring is really exciting, good for you!
