Anyone have any idea exactly what caliber etc these shells are. They are both Navy shells and I found both on the island here, most likely leftovers from when the Navy was stationed here during WWII and had gun emplacements on the island along with sub nets. The large one is 2 1/2 incehs wide and 5 1/4 inches long, but appeard it has been cut so was longer at one time. The smaller one is 1 1/2 inches wide and 3 3/4 inces long and has an 86 stamped on the end.

The small one is 37 Millimeter and was pretty common antiaircraft gun and it was the big gun on our lite tanks and artillery dont know about what the navy did with them. The other one is 60 MM dont know anything about it but would penatrate some pretty good armour the we found out early in the war that the 37 MM was too light.Im not too much of a millitary buff just what I learned from my dad. Im sure there are guys out there that can give you more information on them. Good hunting
