✅ SOLVED navy plate

I found this plate looks brass its 3 1/2 inches across and nothing on back its paper thin dug it at a 40's or 50's house place

Looks to have been the property of a proud veteran. Nice find and congratulations getting it out of the ground without wrecking it

I notice there are three small holes around the rim. Must have been affixed to something.

I see several online listed as retirement plaques, with the same size and design of the Navy seal affixed to wood, with the sailor's name beneath, although the emblem is not in copper on the more recent ones. I noted that the U.S.Navy adopted the seal in 1957, although I see two "official" patterns of the Dept of the Navy online.?
