Navy Pin? Found at late 1800's site.

I found this on my last hunt with D-Dub but forgot to post it. Rang in like a quarter on the E-Trac. Any idea as to the age of this thing, and its origin? Could it be some sort of a Navy pin? Looks like two large bullets crossing each other with an anchor and flower in the foreground. It looks like the anchor is set on the "bullets". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals! thumbsup

Measures exactly 2" long by 1 1/8" across.

As you can see, there are no markings on it at all. I wonder if the anchor was plated? icon_scratch

Not 100% sure but it looks like a Japanese Imperial Navy badge. The flower in the center is a sakura or cherry bloosom.

Could be WWII or older. I'm still searching.

Here is a similar style from 1930. Imperial Japanese Navy 2nd class carpenters badge. The back is the same as yours. Very rare.

Still researching.

Oh wow! That second picture resembles mine quite a bit, So I wonder if those are "bullets" on mine? What site are you using?

Thanks to DCMatt, I have figured it out. it is in fact a Japanese imperial Navy Bombardment's Badge. I think it might be a rare badge. I have to get some more info on this one.

So, where did you find this piece? I'm assuming it is/was a war souvenir.

I found it in a forest preserve near Chicago near the North Branch of the Chicago Rvr, about 10 feet from an old foundation that I found. Two old wells are also nearby this foundation. Definately going back there as there may be some more goodies hiding. Totally stumbled upon this spot by pure assident/chance. ;D

Do a little write up on how/where you found this item and post it in today's finds.

I would vote this as a banner item for rarity and condition.
