I've tried to google this person, but, can't seem to come up with a positive I.D. anyone have a way of narrowing this search down? Maybe someone with access to a military database? I'd like to either find this person or a living relative. I found this at a washed out beach, so, I can't tell how old it might be. It sort of looks like it might have had a ferrous ball type necklace at one time, but, the only thing left is a bit of rust stain.

The format for the tag is that specified between 1st January 1972 and 12th August 2012. In 1972 the US Navy stopped using the individualโ€™s SN (Service Number) for identification purposes and switched to their 9-digit SSN (Social Security Number) but without the hyphens. That continued until 12th August 2012 when they switched to 10 digit DoDโ€™s (Department of Defense) numbers.

Social Security Number 466-23-3555 was issued in Texas in 1973.

Identical layout to my navy dog tag, circa 1977.
