Found this in a civil war site, where we are getting plenty of buttons - both North & South. But I can't figure this one out - my button book list similarities. Some Texas buttons have the anchor too ..... any help would be appreciated.

Fyrffytr1 is right... Civilian "Nautical Motif" button. Also, it has what is called a "self-shank" back. (The back itself functions as the thread-loop (the "shank"), instead of having an applied loop/shank. This button's particular version of self-shank back was invented and patented around 1910.

thanks for the info and "time line" - had my doubts it being Civil War, and being off Civilian clothing.
