Pretty cool little specimen, just thought I'd share... 20190703_090918~2.jpg20190703_091141.jpg20190703_092047.jpg20190703_092216~2.jpg

Thanks everybody, I really like this specimen myself. Kray it is from out there, every now and again I find this cool botryoidal blue, if you look closely it has pink Schiller effects in the middle of the orange, just little specs though and one spec bluish.

I'd be tempted to put my diamond burs on that one and attempt to make a heart smooth and polished. Do you think it would take grinding or fall apart? Gary

I checked it closely for cracks and I don't see any, I was kind of thinking the same thing, I'm gonna work on it a little today if I have time and I'll post some update pics a little later on.

A little more progress but I got greedy and grinded off the host on the backside because I saw the chalcedony had good translucency, unfortunately the host and that white chalcedony were hiding a natural hole, still have some touch ups to do, remove some quartz crystal still and some white chalcedony but I'm now wondering what's the best way to polish this specimen, use a tumbler or a diamond polishing bit, anybody on here know of a good way to polish this? Sorry for all the pics.....

I've taken stones like that and used diamond burs to turn it into a smooth cab. Polishing that while leaving the texture is above my pay grade. It sure is stunning. I hope you figure it out. Gary

I was thinking maybe nova points I see Mark Ruiz using or maybe toss it in a tumbler with polish only, I dont want to throw any other stones in with it because I'm afraid it will break, I do have a bunch of calcite crystals from out there I was thinking I might be able to use because of the softness of calcite, what route do you think would be safest Gary?

That piece is so nice I'd proceed slowly. No experience here with tumbling. You need to go back out there and find a couple more to practice on! Let us know how it turns out. Gary
