Hello guys,

I am an amateur treasure hunter, but have found some cool artifacts throughout my life. I recently found this artifact yesterday off the north shore of Long Island, New York on a Native American reserve. I was digging through some natural clay, and found this about 1 foot within the clay.

I am not sure what it could be, but the etching on the piece made me think that is was not 'naturally' made. I was hoping that you guys could assist! Looking forward to future posts on here!

My first guess would be that it is some type of bone or shell that may have been chewed upon by an animal for calcium. The internal part appears to be natural. Not for sure, just a guess. Its hard to tell for sure

It could be some fossil coral also.

So basically it's just junk? I thought it might have been etched by man.. but I'll take your guys words for it.
