National Saengerfest Medal?

I found this at a local antique store and really didn't know anything about it. 1.jpgAcross the top arch, it says "NATIONAL SAENGER". The four banners on each side provides the dates, (21TES,
JUN 13, and JUL15). One of the banners also says "FEST" on it. Below the lyre is the date 1906, and below that and above the portrait is "NEWARK. N.J." The portrait in the circle is Josef Haydn, whose name is written along the curve inside the circle.

Any information which you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I know the history of the festival itself, I just wanted to know if anyone knew what this would have been used for, like if it was a souvenir or an actual medal, and its value.
