Nat GEO ....Gold of the Lost Ages....on now on Nat Geo

was a very interesting show....a spectrum XLT....1600 pieces of anglo saxon hoard...

you know they kept talking about what does it all mean...who could have left it...all different pieces...

i kept thinking that it belonged to a scrap dealer...he bought what was sold to him and then buried it...

looked like scrap to be reused...

my .02 cents....BTW...they put a 5 million US dollar amount on it...

nice

I watched it very good show . What i liked the UK takes it and pays you what it is worth tax free. The US wants to take it give you nothing and if you do keep it tax you. Here it is going to be back on at midnight then i will put it on DVD.

I watched the show last night and recorded it. Pretty cool.

I went online today and searched Staffordshire, England to get a feel for the location.
There is a lot of info online, with fresh updates.
The article said it was near an old road built by the Romans a few centuries before the Anglo-Saxon occupation, but still used during that time period.
What a history they have there.
And I get excited pulling an 1800's coin or artifact out.

Personally, I think the detectorist and the land owner were short-changed.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to short-changed $2.5 million worth too.
But that hoard could be worth 10 times that on the open market.
One of a kind items, hand crafted for the Anglo-Saxon elite. That's serious stuff.

My thoughts are (and maybe yours) is there another stash nearby?
Only one way to find out, wish I could go there and give it a try.
