Nasty Finds & Gold with Minelab's New 11 inch Pro Coil ---

The last couple of weeks have been tough in Southern Colorado; nothing fantastic to report. SOOOO, I didn't. :)
Here's a few pictures of some of my better finds less the junk.

Today, I received my Minelab 11 inch Pro series coil; nice!
It's rock steady; allowing me to crank SENS up to 32 Max. Very sensitive! I deliberately hunted a hunted out area. I've hunted this partiicular spot no less than a dozen times in the past; using various size/manu. coils. I must admit, Minelab has a winner with this new coil! PinPointing is eeeesy. Depth is amazzzzzing! I found a little 10k gold ring not 4 inch under. Would my other coils find it? Obviously not. The coil reminds me of my Platypus coil but deeper. I also found a 1907 IH "UNDER A PULLTAB down 8 to 10 inches" The only other notable find was the gold plated hat pin. It had glue on it; I know there's more in the hole. I'll go back, taking some dirt, bringing home the original dirt, and find whatever was attached to it.

A criticism of Minelab's new coil; okay, two.
The coil's cord is too short and the coil cover is a joke. With beveled edges, dirt falls right in! I actually took the time, laying the coil flat, running a run of electrical tape around the outside perimeter, overlapping 4 inches or so. I do this to all my coils. Be sure, if you can to prime/clean first with rubbing alcohol; nothing stronger.

I managed to find 3 tokens over the last several weeks; none worth nothing.

The DANMARK 25 Ore is cool; found on a football field.

Great job!!!

Once again showing that no spot is ever hunted out...

Re: Nasty Finds & Gold with Minelab's New 11 inch Pro Coil ---

That real, real thin Gold Ring is a cool hard find but.... 8) That IH under the pull tab is brilliant hard find... :o I have said it before, is it the coil or just how you use it? :icon_scratch: Great Hunting !! :D

Keep @ it and HH!! ;D

That new coil sounds worth every penny, just being able to turn the SENS up to max is worth every penny. I am calling my guy today and ordering one :tongue3:

Finding that little ring is very impressive for an Explorer SE

Like I have said many times before, those tokens are my favorites, but I have only found 3 IH's in 25 years so that would definitely make my week. Looking at those piles of clad = a lot of digging. ;D

Hey,
Thanks everyone!

I should mention all these finds were not found today but over the last two weeks. I only found 4 decent targets today with the Pro coil but I'll take 3 of those four any day. The ring, the hat pin, the 1907 IH. I also found the 1969 Jefferson nickel shown in one of the photos. I must admit; I like nickels too!

That silver plated ornated piece I think is the end off of a high school's marching band's flag staff?
Unsure really; found on a football field.

An update!
The ring was so dirty I couldn't read anything inside the band. After using toothpaste on it, I found a date of JA 1939 inside the band. Is that normal?
I also confirmed (I think) 10kt.The wife "also" just confirmed; she wants it. :)
Strange how things clean up ---

Thank you for your interest!

I guess most of the time when you get a new coil you head straight to you best spot GRB....Excellent Job on your part to go to the "hunted out" place and see what this thing's all about.DAMN GOOD if you ask me!!!

Re: Nasty Finds & Gold with Minelab's New 11 inch Pro Coil ---

Hey, GRB, I'm glad you're liking the coil. I thought the cord on the new coil was a little shorter than my older one too, but it doesn't bother me because of my short stature.

Nice finds!

Good morning Guys & Gals!

Thanks Civilman; I knew if the new Pro coil found anything in my chosen location it would prove, at least to me
it's a good coil. I've hunted that particular spot/area so much I'm really, really surprised I found anything
at all.

Captain SE!
I noticed right out of the box the difference in coil length. But, I did have my SlimLine right there too. The cord is actually 3 or 4 inches shorter. Or, at least mine is. With most folks wrapping the cord outside the rod, using the X1 probe you would think Minelab would have paid closer attention to what we need. Goes to prove, most field testing is done by the consumers. Lol!

I'm off to swing! :)

Hello Allen & Gang!
Thanks for noticing my meager take!

About that cord on the new Pro Coil:
I actually took the time this morning to measure it. Mine measures 29 inches without expanding the curly section. My SlimLine
coil measures 31 inches. 2 inches does make a huge difference in extending the lower rod. I'm only 5' 10" but prefer to extend my lower rod more than most. Doing so allows me a wider swing, which I like.

May there be gold in your swing! :)
