Cool Folkert!! Great stuff in Germany, so different than Texas..
 

Very nice, looks like part of a two piece sword hangar, I thought it was Bavarian as I found one piece similar to yours here in Bavaria but, the French were also here and mine also dates to the early 1800s. Might be another piece there, keep hunting. HH, Mike

awesome find...and strikingly similar to mine....minus the gilt. I have not seen one identical to mine yet...and yours is the closest as it looks smaller. What are the measurements??

I'm assuming it's military maybe worn by an officer.
