Napoleon negative?

Can anyone tell me what this is 3 by 4 inches. The first pic is held up to the light and no dot matrix in the image

Not Napoleon, Never a side view of Napoleon

well if you look at your picture and look at the picture in the link i posted, you can see it is a close up detail of Napoleon from THAT image. Perhaps someone was cataloging images for personal reasons, or perhaps it was part of some school or art project.

Pretty neat I think where is that painting at did it say never mind it say from Palace of Versailles I think. I guess someone would have to take photo of it to get that quality but who knows

if it is a negative as you suggested, it would be from a medium format studio camera, which means a wide open date period. large and medium format cameras were most often used by professionals or serious hobbyists to capture lots and lots of fine detail.

Yeah the detail is very nice on it not even a little blur or run
