My son and I got out for a short 1.5 hour hunt today at a long ago forgotten home site in the woods... this one is a mile from any road. In the past we have pulled two largies and a half cent ranging from 1851 to 1809, so we know its a decent older site.
So today we were both running new machines... me the Etrac instead of the Garrett 2500 and my son running the 2500 in place of his Ace 250. So we both were being schooled a bit... What this site has taught me is that sometimes copper doesn't deteriorate.... as evidenced by the quality of the nails found. Last time we were at this site we found several other nails that were in the same condition.
The spoon handle is marked, but I cannot make out anything other than Britain as the second word.. not sure of the first. Usually my spoon finds are without plating, so this one is a bonus!
The Eagle button was found at the end of the hunt... rang in loud and clear as a 12-28 on the Etrac... can anyone date it? Was hoping for a coin when I first found it but this works too! Its real thin and measures 0.844 inches in diameter...
EDIT- it helps to add the picts...
Thanks for looking!
