Not far From Stroudsburg just South West of Edgemere on the road from Dingman's Ferry to Porters Lake, in 3500 acres of wilderness, Lies the remains of a cluster of Settlements, quickly constructed By Civil War Draft Evaders and Deserters from both the North & South armies. <> Set on avoiding the war, hundreds swarmed to this area to hide until the wars end. they built what may be the only colony of Civil War draft evaders. <> When they heard the war was over, they quickly moved on. <> Buildings were left in tact,most took only what they could carry, leaving everything else behind. Many of the foundations may still be visible, alot? were in 1976, all it takes is some searching<>?
