What type of quartz is on the far left? That is the kind mostly around my area. Its kinda a creamy feel to it. I dont find much clear quartz here. Oh nice points.

Its white quartz. That one looks like it has a little iron in it.

And thats the name of it? I find some jasper that is white and sometimes is hard to tell the difference.

Jasper is exactly the same as chert. It is really nothing like quartz in feel or appearance. Quartz is much larger grained. Quartz crystal is not.... but you will never confuse that with chert Jasper or any other chalcedony if you handled them all.

I've never heard white chert referred to as Jasper.

Some call it.. milky quartz.... the point you asked about.

lol well I am in no way a geologist. I just figured that was what it was called. Must be the hill billy in me coming out. My dad was from West Va and his dad was a coal miner in the mountains. My gran mother was a full blooded Cherokee. Must be where I get the love for artifacts8-).

Cool family tree info Rock. Seems you have hard work in your blood as well. By the way, Gator is correct. Milky quartz is what every one knows this as.

What other types of quartz is there that is white as in different names for it. I have always just called it quartz or crystal.
