On Mar.9, 1962, Coin Dealer Geo. O. Walton was fatally injured in a auto accident near Middlesex, NC., while traveling to Wilson, NC. Mr. Walton was the owner of one of the 5 known specimens of the famed 1913 Liberty Head Nickel. Though it was reported that the Coin was lost at the site of the accident, It was revealed in the early 90,s that the family had hidden the coin for 41 yrs.
He was carrying a very valuable Collection to show in Wilson, when the mishap occured.
If some smart TH'er were to research where exactly the accident happened , I found 2 sources that stated there were coins scattered all over the roadside.
If you think about it, there weren't many MD in 1962.
