Mystery solved

In an earlier post about a week ago, I mentioned a collapsed suspension ridge crossing a creek I was MD'ing near. At the time there didn't seem an apparent need for it to be there. A few days later I got permission to MD an old homestead (that's another story),that is starting to fall in, close to this location. The owners son told me that 10-15 years ago a group that had paintball wars, had been using that area and had constructed the bridge. It was expensive to build, with heavy steel pipe, quality welding, thick wire-rope and concrete. Over the years the creek flooded several times. After repairing it the third time it was abandoned and the paintball wars are now long over. Also, I had noticed several pallets propped up in the adjoining woods and figured at the time that floods had deposited them. Actually, they were the remnants of the paintball wars too used for protection. Imagine that!

For the last three days during my off-work time I've MD'd the old homestead the gas well property owner was raised in. Thank goodness it's winter (upper 70's and a drought) because the dead grass if it was standing instead of laying over would be a good foot and half feet tall. I've found 14 pennies the oldest one 1944 through 1964 and a clad dime (where is the silver?), a red metal ball point pen (I had forgotten they weren't always plastic), belt buckle, .22 cartridge. Nothing to really brag about but a lot of fun being away from home.

Thanks for reading and HH.

You never know what your going to find !!! and the History of any area until you talk to people in the area.....good luck ;D

As far as finding things you just have to be patient. Some produce and some places don't. I know a place that has been searched 50 times in one year. Five of those times I was out there and no coins No one seemed to have any luck. Everyone swears there should be coins on the place. One day after a two day rain I went out there and found 12 pennies, 2 silver dimes, 1 quarter. You just never no. Burdie

Thank goodness there's nothing metalic in paintballs or you'd have your work cut out for you. ;)

It sounds like a good site. Give it another shot! :)

Congrats on your finds!

Better get back there while that grass is down.

;)

Thanks folks for the encouragement. I'm not done yet. Didn't md today and the winter is finally visiting the Ft Worth area. Just glad I'm not snow bound and frozen over like some folks. Probably have 5 or 6 days left here and will be "swinging" at that house, the other side of the creek and along a depression on this side of the creek. The son said it was an old wagon trail at one time.

Happy Hunting to all.
