We found this passport in the abandoned house located in our back yard . I thought it would be easy finding info on her , since we have name /date of birth , etc.
We can't find anything . We do know she once owned our property , but she had a different last name . Our deed lists her a Marie Louise Francke - when she sold a small parcel back in 1950 .

We subscribe to the "free" version of Ancestry.com which hasn't been much help .

The passport was issued in 1923 , when she was 45 years old . She was born Sept. 5 1878 in New York City . The prior owner of our farm said that he heard that she may have been a Floradora Girl when she was young . I searched Floradora sites - with no luck . Wiki says the girls were all 5 foot four , The passport says Marie Louise was 5' 10" ........ so I'm not sure on the Flora connection ( maybe she was a makeup artist , set designer ?) It may be possible that she was married twice , so the lack of her Maiden name is why I cant find any info ?

Glendon , Maine is the "Old " name for the town we live in .

My questions :
When did she die ?
Where is she buried ?
Who was her Husband(s)
Occupation ?

She visited France , according to the Visa stamp . Ron & Ann ........?........We need you !

Hi Mojjax,
Do you have a county library near by? Maybe they have a plat map from the 1940's or 50's which would show the owner's name. Maybe your county clerk or Assessor's Office could look up the land records for your property. Just a thought. Good Luck in your quest...

Hi Mojjax

Could not easily find Marie's maiden name. Her parents were both born in Pennsylvania.

She divorced her first husband.

Could not find out second husband's Mr. Francke's first name.

There is a Medical Doctor named Marie-Louise Francke who lives in Encino, California ... May be a namesake for it has the dash in Marie-Louise too

Note: the birth date on the passport is wrong by one month... it should be October.. not September

There were always servants for this lady... cooks, chauffeurs, etc... so there is some money here someplace. her first husband was a lot older than she. I would carefully check your house and land for hidden goodies.

Maybe you could trace down Raymond Piercey descendants there in Maine!!!

The endnotes contain the references.

Maybe could have found more if more time was invested.

Thanks , Sanat ! I found stacks of Kennel Club books in the barn that have Ray Piercey's name on them , they are dated from the 40's . I also found this dog collar with his name on it . Never realized he was her son . Now that I re-look at the birth date , it does say Oct. . the loop from the word above it made me think it was Sept .
So far I've found lots of nice old coins around the property - but I haven't found the "mother load" yet

we found some very old photo albums full of cvd's and tintypes - with the names Perot , Corbit , Ogden , Lovering , Wharton , Bowman . Maybe one of them is her Maiden name . We have found lots of info on some of these people - and yes they were filthy rich . When we first moved here I found a family tree that was all torn up , I carefully picked up all the pieces and put them in a large mailing tube , thinking I would some day tape It back together . It had been in a large frame that was smashed and stomped on by vandals . Now I can't find where I stored it , but Its around here somewhere .
Thank You so much for the info !!!

This post is very interesting...I kinda searched around the www too, finding the Marie-Louise Francke in CA. This was before Sanat chimed in with his searching. I will keep checking back to see if any new results have been posted. Great find, Mojax and good luck. I'm sure Ann will be checking in shortly...she always has a wealth of information on genealogy research.

Hi Mojjax

Ray Piercey was the "son-in-law". Her daughter was named Lois O... so maybe Marie's maiden name was Ogden since it is not unusual to give the daughter's middle name as the mother's maiden name.

I tenatively tried all six surnames that you gave me and after cursory inspection none seem to be right... usually a census will pull up someone and none did except for two Mary Corbits... whose parents for both of these Mary's were born in Ireland.

Marie's parents were both born in Pennsylvania.

If you get a idea of her surname then either PM, Email or post here ands i will try it to see if it fits. Only takes a few minutes and if it helps you then i have done my purpose.

Here are some pics from the album - you can see they were quite distinguished looking people . The photos had been "colorized" . Some look like tiny paintings , especially the guy hold the hat ( maybe it was done before cameras were invented?)

Ok.....from a passport of Henry C. Corbit and based on the names you posted here...these names appear on the passport letter as follows:

Henry C. Corbit (himself) Henry C Corbit
Sarah B. Corbit (wife) Sarah B Corbit
Caroline R. (daughter, age 13) Caroline R Perot
Emma (daughter, age 11) Emma C Ogden
Helen (daughter, age 3)
Charly (son, age infant)
Eliza (a female servant)

This passport request was from 24 July 1839 and he lived in Philadelphia. From a 1830 Census record...they are living in Lower Delaware Ward, City of Philadelphia.

Can't place their connection yet: , , John M Ogden , , , , , , Ellen L Bowman , Anna Dorothea Ogden

Assuming that John M. Ogden is the husband of Emma and Anna Dorothea Ogden is their child.
Assuming Joseph S. Lovering and Ann C. Lovering are husband and wife (correct based on the census record) and the "C" in Ann's name is for Corbit and also a daughter of Henry and Sarah Corbit.
Assuming Ellen L. Bowman (Don't know her connection as of yet)
And for Charles W. Wharton....he is the son in law of Joseph S. and Anna C. Lovering.

OK....found some info on Joseph S. Lovering.....

Just went thru my geneology books on the Ogden family, and I came up blank on the names that you listed. It's a fairly common name, so it didn't really surprise me much that I didn't find them. Will watch for additional name listings, and will check them also. If I find anything, I'll let you know. The Ogden's came in on my mother's side, and on that line, we have a pretty good list of names.
