I found this lock today at an old train depot site. The original one was built in 1850 and was burned down December of 1914. It was then rebuilt and I believe was torn down between 1972 and 1980 sometime? No telling how old this lock is, I thought it may have been the lock to the depot? I think it says CORBIN on it.

Any idea how old or what kind of lock it is? Also included are pictures taken in 1972 of the depot.

I think this one is a relatively new lock--probably only about 40-50 years old at most, and maybe newer than that.

Corbin has been making locks for a long-long time... mid to late 1800s.

I also think your lock, based on design alone, is not too awfully old. If it was brass... I'd think differently.

Since the last depot was torn down sometimes around 1972, I would guess it's at least that old?

I would say at least that old... I can't put my finger on the metal though? What is that - not steal, not aluminum...

Corbin makes locks for the government, big corporations, or anybody
that uses a lot of locks that uses the same key.
That way all employees only need one key to open any lock.
My companies locks were made of heavy thick brass.
Hope this helps.
