I dug this earlier from about 10" behind a cellar hole dating from the 1690s, the entire site is heavily contaminated with early 1900-1920s railroad debris, bottles, spikes, cans etc. This was the only interesting item I found other than some early 1900s local beer bottles and a few medicine bottles. I can't find any info about the item on the Internet. It appears to be tin, image.webpimage.webpsome type of lid or cover.
 

I believe this was part of brooch. I would date it to somewhere around 1900 give or take a few years

The figure on it is Athena, the Greek goddess of Wisdom, of Courage, and of War. She is typically seen wearing a Greek military helmet atop her head (not, of course, covering her face).
