Anyone have any ideas about the symbols on this (lapel pin)? The only clue I have for dating is a 1930 Texas license plate I dug in the same vicinity, which probably means nothing. Thanks for lookin'. IMGP4564.JPGattachment[5].jpg

Wow. Tough one. I looked at it for a while and I can't figure out what that lower symbol represents.

Is it supposed to be a globe? :dontknow:

Can we see a pic of the back?

Thanks DC MATT. I too thought if I looked long enough, something would come to me, but, no luck. Here's what the back looks like.IMGP4566.JPG I haven't checked for a marking under the crust, thinking it would only cause the front to lose detail.

It is a Distinctive Unit Insignia or DUI. I can't find the exact one but I think Infantry due to the blue and white colors. Maybe a unit that fought in WW1 due to the iron cross.

WOW. You guys are amazing. This should help me find out more about this exact pin. Mine can't be the only one. Maybe even, with this information and researching the previous landowners, determine the name of the soldier. How awesome would THAT be?

Awesome as usual, Bramblefind!

So the lower image represents the northern hemisphere. Who looks at the globe like that? Santa? No wonder we couldn't figure out what it was.

I'll be curious to see if the land owner names can give the time frame. To my eye this relic looks early 20th C.

Here is another posted on Tnet last year:

Thanks DCMatt. I'll give an update if I can determine a time frame on this. The "WE SERVE" isn't at the bottom of mine, maybe that's a clue.....I'm with you on the globe; wasn't the view I'm accustomed to seeing. I'm marking this as solved, but I'll do an update if I have anything new. Thanks everyone for your interest and help. Happy hunting.:coffee2:

note the arms were changed a couple times after korea --it had a sword with a yin yang symbol on its top and in 1980 it again changed --with no "top'[ symbol on it and by the look of the type of material ways its made --I say it was a WW2 era pre korea medal -- so the guy was most likely a WW2 vet ..

Interesting...Thank you Ivan.Is there a reference source that covers all that info? or your personal knowledge? If a source, I'd LOVE to see it. Thanks again. This just keeps gettin' better and better.
